Introductory Course on Semi-Cursive Script (Xingshu)

This course is designed for students who wish to understand the fundamental characteristics of *Xingshu* (semi-cursive script). The curriculum covers the observation of character forms, stroke connections, writing rhythm, and practice with common characters. The instructor will first outline the differences between *Xingshu* and *Kaishu* (regular script) regarding character structure and stroke transitions, followed by demonstrations using beginner-friendly characters. Class activities include tracing individual characters, comparing similar character forms, and practicing short phrases, allowing students to gradually familiarize themselves with the expressive style of *Xingshu*. The course pace is tailored to students’ existing foundation in regular script and their actual progress, with a list of characters provided for post-class review.
