Description
This course introduces the fundamental principles of composition in calligraphy and is suitable for students who already have some experience practicing individual characters and wish to try creating a complete piece. The instructor will explain the basics—including content selection, character count, column and row layout, inter-character relationships, and the placement of the inscription (signature/dedication)—and illustrate the characteristics of different layouts using simple examples. The class includes exercises on partial layout, planning the composition of the entire text, and demonstrations of the writing process to help students understand the steps involved in moving from individual characters to a finished work. Specifics regarding the length of the piece, the script style, and practice materials can be arranged in advance based on student needs.
